Carla and David met in Carla's home state of Texas, where the Texas Indoctrination of David began. This is where he was taught how to make the "hook-em horns" sign with your hands. David passed the first hurdle when Carla ask him if he liked the football team OU. David said since I like UT there would be no way I could like the football team Oklahoma. Carla said "that's good since I could not talk to you anymore if you were an Oklahoma fan".

David is from Wisconsin and it took Carla a while to come to grips that David is a Yankee, and If you ask her we think deep down it still gives her goose bumps.  For a few months after meeting, David needed to teach Carla about the nasal language of Northern Wisconsin and Carla was also teaching David about the nuances of the twang of a Texan, just don't tell Carla she has an accent, y'all.

They were introduced to each other by a couple, Carla's friend worked with her and David's friend was someone he met when he arrived in Texas. This couple both invited them to attend a camping trip in the Houston area. The night before the camping trip Carla and David met for the first time. It was love at first site. From that night Carla and David were inseparable. They both knew at that first meeting that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. That fateful night was over five years ago in a hot Texas night in June. Now their dreams will come true this October.
